Pius Langa, Chief Justice of South Africa
Transformative Constitutionalism and Socio-Economic Rights: Part 1/2
This keynote lecture was delivered by the Chief Justice of South Africa in Oxford on 11 June 2008 to open the Foundation's Workshop: Adjudicating Socio-Economic Rights.
The lecture addressed the relationship between the entrenchment and enforceability of socio-economic rights in South Africa. Chief Justice Langa argues that the Constitution is best understood as a manifesto for positive transformation towards an equal society.
