Aspen Lecture: Detention without Trial

The Foundation for Law, Justice and Society held a conference at the Aspen Institute in Aspen, Colorado on 7-9 July. The conference coincided with the Aspen Ideas festival, and was opened with a public lecture by Professor AWB Simpson, whose talk on detention without trial drew a substantial audience.

A podcast of the lecture is now available to download.

The lecture was followed by a two-day seminar entitled, 'In Times of Crisis, Can We Trust the Courts?', attended by an international panel of experts from law, government, and the military, including Justice Rosalie Abella from the Supreme Court of Canada; Clark Ervin, former Inspector General at the Department of Homeland Security (Bush Administration); Judge Abner Mikva, former Counsel to President Clinton; and Steven Shapiro, Legal Director of the American Civil Liberties Union.

Further details, including full programme and participant details, are available to download from the Downloads box on the right.
