Carole Pateman is Professor of Political Science at the University of California at Los Angeles. She was elected a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Social Sciences and President of the Australasian Political Studies Association in 1980-81. She has served as a visiting professor at Stanford (1980) and Princeton (1985-86), and as a fellow at Stanford's Center for Advanced Study in the behavior Sciences (1984-5), and Princeton's Institute for Advanced Study (1986-87).
Her third book, The Sexual Contract, won the Victoria Schuck Award from the American Political Science Association in 1989.
