5 December 2008
St Hugh's College, Oxford
This workshop examines issues which arise as a result of two commonly made claims. The first observes that the modern day policy process has become increasingly complicated. Effective decision making in a range of policy areas appears to depend upon a detailed knowledge of a range of complex fields, from macroeconomics to biotechnology. The second notes that courts are increasingly playing an active role in the contemporary policymaking process. The workshop studies the extent to which they are able to act effectively in today's complex social policy environment.
