In this workshop, Professor Tom Ginsberg from Chicago University presented his research from the
Comparative Constitutions Project. His lecture, hosted by the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies at Oxford University, discussed the sociological factors contributing to the endurance of national constitutions.
The project found that public participation, flexibility, and specificity were the three key characteristics that helped ensure that constitutions would endure, although the research also showed that constitutions are in fact more fragile and short-lived than is commonly thought.
