Plucking the Goose: The Role of Taxation in the Modern Social Contract

Taxation report front cover
A complete portrayal of the social contract demands attention not only to what the state must provide, but also to the financial burden these provisions entail and the way they will be funded.

But taxation also has an important role in effecting a primary goal of the welfare state: social justice. These policy briefs and report aim to arrive at principles that should govern fair taxes and to suggest some solutions to prevailing problems in the tax system of many Western countries.
